Agartala Aug 06: A government is successful only when it can stand up to the aspirations of the common masses and for that a friendly cordial relationship between the government and the netizens is utmost important, said Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha as he addressed the foundation day ceremony of Shibnagar Modern Club on Sunday.
The chief minister along with state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder among others inaugurated the 71st Foundation Day ceremony of Shibnagar Modern Club, one of the renowned clubs in the state capital.
Dr Manik Saha expressed gratitude towards the people who came forward in voluntary blood donation and also hailed the role of club authorities for organizing social activities of various kinds throughout the year.
Talking about the advancement in blood banks of the state, the chief minister said, “After the recent assembly elections there was a shortage of blood in state blood banks. But with positive contribution of all including various clubs, social organizations, NGOs, offices of various departments, individual approaches and others it has been possible to reach the required quantity of blood. Today, sate blood banks have enough blood to meet up any sort of crisis”.
“Health sector is one of the major priorities of the state government. And for that we are trying hard to improve the healthcare facilities at the grassroot level”, he said.
The chief minister said, “If the district, subdivisional, PHCs CHCs are strengthened in terms of health services, the prime referral hospitals like GB and IGM won’t face a burden of extra patient load and also the common people in the suburbs can avail health facilities easily”.
“Besides, with a new dental college, nursing college and many more, the government is trying to make the state a medical hub. People now rarely go to other state for treatment as hospitals like GBP, Agartala are providing best medical facilities in presence of good doctors and advanced equipment”, he added.
Speaking about the “Mukhyamanti Samipeshu” program where people from far and wide reach the doorsteps of the chief minister every week, Dr Saha said, “Majority of people who come to meet me on Wednesday’s have some or other health related problem. But with the budget session approving Rs 59 crores under Prime Minister Jana Arogya Yojana, the state government can easily help those people”.
He said, the “Mukhyamantri Samipeshu” program aims to establish a friendly relation with the netizens of the state.
“A friendly relation between the state government and the common people can make the government function smoothly while fulfilling the aspirations of the people”, said the chief minister.
The chief minister further noted significant changes in the club culture of the state.
He said, “These days, clubs are not fighting with each other but they are now engaging themselves towards good works throughout the year. Sports, yoga, blood donations and many more. Also, the club authorities of different clubs across the capital are nicely handling many issues in the locality like family disputes, land disputes and others. They are also acting towards the state government’s call for ‘Drug-Free Tripura’, and ‘Plastic-free Tripura’ which is highly appreciable”.
Dr Manik Saha urged the clubs to collaborate with the police and government to combat serious issues like drug- addiction and in solving societal problems.
