Dharmanagar, August 11: In an emotional plea, Babul Shukla Das of East Huruah Ward 6 finds himself helpless and heartbroken as he struggles to reunite with his wife, Swapna Das, and their three young children. Babul said that his life has been shattered ever since his wife left with their children five months ago, returning to her parental home in Dhalai district.
Married in March 2011, Babul and Swapna built a life together, raising their 13-year-old daughter, Meghla, and 9-year-old twin sons, Bijay and Vishal. However, that life came crashing down when Swapna suddenly left, taking the children with her. Since then, Babul has been desperately trying to reach out to his family, but his efforts have been met with cold indifference and threats from his mother-in-law, Arati Das, who warned him to stay away or face deadly consequences.
Deprived of his rights as a husband and father, Babul’s agony is compounded by the fact that his children's education has come to a standstill, and he is powerless to change the situation. When he sought help from the Kadamtala police, they refused to even register his complaint, leaving him without any legal recourse.
Now, Babul turns to the public, sharing his plight with journalists in Dharmanagar in a final attempt to gain the support and intervention he so desperately needs. He fears for his children’s future under the influence of his mother-in-law, who, he claims, has already ruined the lives of her other daughters.
Babul’s anguish is a stark reminder of how men, too, can be deprived of their basic rights and left voiceless in situations where the law seems indifferent.
