Five arrested in Agartala with brown sugar worth Rs 2.5 lakh

Agartala, Nov 26: Agartala police arrested five individuals, including a woman and seized brown sugar worth Rs 2.5 lakh, cash and mobile phones from their possession.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from Agartala East Police Station, led by Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee, conducted a raid in the Golap Bagan area on Tuesday morning.
During the raid, four individuals were arrested with 36 grams of brown sugar.
During preliminary interrogation, the detainees revealed that they had sourced the contraband from a tea stall owned by Uma Malakar, a woman running a tea stall in the capital city.
Acting on this information, the police raided the tea stall and recovered 95 small containers of brown sugar and arrested the woman.
The other four detainees were identified as Rajesh Debnath, Biswajit Majumder, Jayden Das and Usman Mia.
A specific case under the NDPS Act has been registered against all five suspects.
