Agartala, Aug 20: They braved the swollen river, menacing flood and risked their own lives to save others.

As the destruction and despair hang heavy, it was the sight of men in orange that could only bring a ray of hope among the marooned people.

While a large number of villages were submerged in flood water and the distressed people were looking for help, the emergency response teams including NDRF, Civil Defence, Apada Mitras, TSR and the community volunteers promptly swung into action and launched the rescue operation round the clock.

According to official sources, more than 200 teams of SDRF(TSR), NDRF, Civil Defence, Aapda Mitra Volunteers, Fire and Emergency Services, Forest, TSECL, PWD(WR), PWD(R&B), Agriculture and other line departments are deployed and are carrying out relief and rescue operations.
