Gandacherra/ Agartala, Aug 04: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and Police chief Amitabha Ranjan on Sunday visited Gandacherra to take stock of the present situation.
During the visit, the Chief Minister met victim families and heard their issues. He also met the family of tue deceased and extended sympathy.
Later speaking to the media, the Chief Minister announced additional relief for the victim families and development plans of Rs. 239 crore for Gandacherra.
He said, on July 7 last, an incident occurred during Anandamela in which a local youth Parameswar Reang was injured. Later he died in the hospital during treatment.
When the body reached Gandacherra on July 12, a series of incidents of violence including arson in houses and shops had taken place. A good number of families suffered damages in the incidents.
Dr. Saha said he along with the administrative and police officials monitored the overall situation at the time of incidents.
"Today I visited Gandacherra along with the team to take ground report and latest situation", the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister visited the deceased's home, Narayanpur market, 30 Card relief camp and other affected areas.
The State Government has already announced assistance for the deceased's family and other affected families. A decision has been taken to strengthen the security measures, he said, adding that a plan is under consideration to set up a permanent security camp near 33 card.
At MR Das Para and Ramnagar, where security camps already exist, the security would be strengthened further.
While announcing additional relief, the Chief Minister said, the deceased's would be given total Rs. 10 lakh. Previously, Rs. 6 lakh was given by the state government.
In case of the affected families, additional relief would be provided. For 101 fully damaged houses, an amount of Rs. 95,000 has already been given. Now, additional Rs. 2.05 lakh would be provided (total Rs. 3 lakh/ per family).
In case of 13 severely affected houses, the government already provided Rs. 50,000 and now additional Rs. 1 lakh would be provided (Total Rs. 1.50 lakh).
For 31 partly damaged houses, the additional relief would be given in various categories based on the assessment of damages.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister said, the state government already disbursed Rs. 1,14,80,000 to the affected families. Now, additional relief of Rs. 2,30,40,000 would be provided.
Home Secretary Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty and DGP (Intelligence) Anurag Dhankar among other officials were also present in the visit and the press conference.
The Chief Minister said, action would be taken against those involved in hatching conspiracy and creating such situation. He also appealed to all for maintaining unity and peace in the area.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced several development plans worth Rs. 239 crore for Gandacherra, including construction of Narayanpur Market with 30 market stalls, maintenance and upgradation of Dasaram Choudhary Super Market , overall development of Gandatwisa Market Area like paver block internal roads, street lights, drainage system etc.), development of Gandatwisa Ambassa road Length 51 Km, new construction for Sub Divisional Hospital Gandatwisa and retrofitting of existing building, development of Hathimatha, Dalapathy road (Length 9 Km), improvement of road from Ranjith Para to Budhajoy para, under Raishyabari (Length 5 Km) and development of Ambassa – Gandatwisa road to Jamatia Para Under Domburnagar (Length 3 Km).
The development initiatives also include development of Synthetic Football ground at Gandatwisa class 12 school, Development of cage farming for fisheries at Dumboor lake, setting up of new 50 bedded integrated rehabilitation centre for drug addicts at Gandatwisa, overall infrastructure development of Schools in Gandatwisa (Smart Class rooms, Class room furniture, Infrastructure Development etc.), setting up of Solar powered micro cold storage (15 MT) chambers for mango growers of Raishyabari, cold storage and Cold chamber vehicle for transportation of fish to Agartala and other markets, development of indoor badminton court at Gandatwisa, construction of buildings for 10 dilapidated Anganwadi centres at Gandatwisa sub-division and setting up of live CCTV coverage at Gandatwisa market area with feed to police.
