Gandacherra, Nov 14: After a prolonged wait, the Public Works Department of Gandacherra has finally begun renovation work on the dilapidated Gandacherra Sub-Divisional Hospital building. 

According to reports, an external construction firm specializing in structural reinforcement has been assigned the Rs 4 crore project, designed to make the structure earthquake-resistant.

In view of the inconveniences faced by the local residents, the company in charge of the work began swiftly about ten days ago and aims to complete the renovation within 8 to 10 months, despite the official timeline being set for 18 months. 

The same construction company has previously earned acclaim for successfully restoring Neermahal and the Rajbari.

It was learnt that the two-story building of the hospital was left in poor condition for years.
