Agartala, Aug 27: Union Minister for Rural Development Giriraj Singh, who arrived in Tripura on a three-day visit on Thursday, reviewed the status of various central schemes being implemented in the state.
After the review meeting, he said the state government implemented every programme very efficiently.
Replying to a query on MGNREGA payment, he said, there is no pending dues for labour; only fund for materials is pending, it would be released soon.
The Union Minister said, under MGNREGA, 100 percent DBT is being done, assets are being created, women’s participation is being ensured and there is no scope for looting money as it happened in the communist era.
Speaking to the media, he said, Tripura had received only Rs. 4000 crore from the Ministry of Rural Development in eight years before the formation of Modi government in 2014. Now, Tripura received over Rs. 15000 crore.
He said, the result of double-engine government reflects in 5 to 7 years; the Tripura government has worked well and the centre has also been working with full sincerity.
At present, the number of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Tripura is 3 lakh and there is a target to increase the figure to 5 lakhs, he told the media.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma along with other officials were rpesent in the review meeting held at the State Guest House.
The Union Minister, who also met Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, is also scheduled to hold multiple review meetings during his stay in the state.
