Agartala Oct 07: A section of indigenous people fell into the trap of dreamy promises made by other political parties and severed ties with the CPIM. But having realized the mistake they are willing to return back now, said CPIM State Secretary and MLA Jiten Choudhury.
After a meeting on Saturday at the CPIM state headquarters in Melarmath with a good number of indigenous leaders and activists, Jiten Choudhury said, “24 leaders and activists left the ruling party BJP and TIPRA Motha and joined CPIM from Panroza area under Kamalpur”.
“Boastful promises like separate Tipra Land and development in all sectors, made by parties like BJP and TIPRA Motha lured a section of indigenous people who were hardcore CPIM workers earlier and many of them also took part in several significant movements like Jana Siksha Andolan and others. But distracted with the false promises made by those parties they shifted their stand”, he said.
Choudhury further added, “But having realized the reality, the present scenario where the people of Tiprasa community got nothing and all the promises made came out to be false, they have once again decided to come back to the CPIM and work for the interest of the indigenous people”.
The CPIM state secretary informed that a mega joining program will be held on October 10, where a large number of indigenous people will join the Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP), a frontal organization of the Left.
