Agartala, Jan 12: Once deprived in all spheres, Tripura is now scripting new chapter of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said BJP national president J.P. Nadda.
The BJP national president, who visited the state on Thursday and attended the closing ceremony of the party's historic Jan Viswas Yatra, he said the BJP government is committed to make Tripura developed.
The law and order situation during the Communist regime was worse. But, under the rule of BJP, there has been no report of a single political murder in Tripura, he said.
“Manik is our Chief Minister and HIRA is our plan. So, Manik met HIRA here. HIRA stands for Highways, Internet, Railways and Airways. This is the road of our connectivity. This is the path of development,” he said while addressing a public rally at Umakanta Academy ground.
“Got to experience the unbridled support of the people of Tripura for the BJP during the road show in Agartala today. Under the guidance of Hon. PM @narendramodi Ji & the leadership of CM @DrManikSaha2 Ji, Tripura is rapidly climbing the ladder of development & prosperity,” he tweeted.
The rally drew a huge crowd. Before participating in the rally, the BJP national president accompanied by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb took part in a road show that started from Kaman Chowmuhani and traversed through various roads in the city.
Speaking in the rally on the occasion of National Youth Day, he said, Swami Vivekananda had predicted that India would march ahead as a self-reliant country and today India's youth are marching ahead towards self-reliance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Addressed a public meeting in Agartala, Tripura today on the joyous occasion of #YuvaDivas. The self-reliant India of today under the dynamic leadership of Hon. PM @narendramodi Ji is fulfilling Vivekananda Ji’s vision & is catering to the needs of every section of society,” he tweeted.
The BJP chief said, the road connectivity projects during the UPA regime were almost blocked. Now, lakhs of villages across the country are being connected through PM Gram Sadak Yojna. In Tripura alone, more than 4,700 kms of roads are being constructed to connect the villages, he added.
Meanwhile, Nadda also lambasted the Congress and Communists leaders for the alleged corruption and incompetence of their governments and asked them to take rest at home for a while and let the BJP continue its development work. He also highlighted the Modi government's eight years' performance.
The BJP national president then went to Lankamura, a bordering village in Barjala constituency, and interacted with the local people.
“I was glad to see how our objective of 'Antyodaya' is being fulfilled as the benefits of the numerous schemes started by Hon. PM @narendramodi Ji is reaching even the remotest areas of our country such as Lankamura along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura,” he tweeted.
Before leaving the state, he also held a meeting with the party’s state core committee at the residence of a local Karyakarta.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, the cabinet members and other leaders were present in the meeting.
