Agartala Jan 20: Retired Justice AB Pal on Friday claimed that he did not ‘resign’ from the committee that had been formed by the government to break the impasse over 10,323. However, Retired Justice Pal admitted that he had raised questions about none being made the chairman or convener or secretary of the proposed committee and said that ‘for this’ he did not give his consent. Justice (Rtd) Pal also admitted that he did not agree with the proposal for constitution of any such committee as he felt that there was no need for any such committee at al.
Although there was no meeting and his position in the committee remained ultimately vague –as he did not give consent and he did not resign too-- Justice (Rtd) Pal, nevertheless, in his individual capacity sent to the government his suggestions and also a format of the notification that the government could use to reinstate the teachers- who according to him ‘had not at all lost their job’.
Retired Tripura High Court Justice AB Pal along with two other members including Advocate CS Sinha and Retired IFS Prasenjit Biswas were entrusted the responsibility by the state government to find out a solution to the much crucial 10,323 teachers issue in Tripura.
Talking to the reporters at his residence on Friday morning, the former High Court Justice Pal said he did not shake off the responsibility.
“I received a phone call from the state government’s side regarding inclusion as a member of the committee formed to find a solution to the 10,323 teachers’ case. From the very beginning I cleared that there is no necessity of any committee as the judgment of the High Court and Supreme Court makes it clear that all the ‘illegally’ sacked teachers were not a part of the judgment”, he said.
“Jobs of only 462 teachers were gone and 9,861 teachers are not at all a part of that judgment”, he added.
Justice (rtd) Pal further said, “I did not resign from the committee. Instead, I prepared a draft notification mentioning the details and sent it to the chief secretary for consideration on January 16 itself”.
“Considering the shortage of time, I mentioned clearly in the notification that jobs of 10,323 teachers’ were not gone and just the issue of that notification by the government’s side can reinstate the services of the sacked teachers”, he said.
