Agartala, June 23: Today’s children will lead the country in future. That is why, it is our duty to ensure that no child is deprived of fundamental rights, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Friday.
He was addressing the inaugural session of a seven-day Residential Training of Child Welfare Committees on Child Rights in Tripura organised at a private hotel at Ushabazar in Agartala by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights in collaboration with Tripura State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The Residential Training will continue till June 29.
The Chief Minister said, we must come forward in order to protect the rights of the children. It is important to generate awareness among children about their rights and counsel them.
The Chief Minister emphasised upon taking strict actions against those who are behind leading any child towards wrong path. He said, it is important to regularly evaluate the steps taken by the Commission against child abuse, child trafficking and child labour.
He also asked the Commission to ensure child rights in true manner. Speaking about the necessity of the training, the Chief Minister said, the knowledge gained in this training must be taken to the grassroot levels.
Chairperson of Tripura State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Jayanti Debbarma said, the Commission is working to ensure child rights in the state. The participants would be benefitted with the experience and advices shared by experts during the training programme.
Secretary of Social Welfare and Social Education department Tapas Roy and Senior Technical Expert- Northeast Cell, Ministry of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Paresh Shah were also present at the event.
The Welcome speech was delivered by member of Tripura State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Manisha Saha and the vote of thanks was delivered by member of Uttar Purvanchal Janajati Seva Samiti Sachin Kalai. The state and district chairpersons and members of Child Welfare Committees took part in the training.
