New Delhi, Nov 09: Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud was on Wednesday appointed as the acting chief justice of the Tripura High Court as incumbent chief justice Indrajit Mahanty demits office on Thursday.
Justice Goud is the senior-most judge of the Tripura High Court.
He will assume office on November 11, the Department of Justice in the law ministry said in a notification.
Justice Goud was born on March 1, 1965, in at Secunderabad and got his education in St.Patricks High School, Secunderabad, Intermediate in Wesley boys Junior College, Secunderabad.
He graduated from Arts and Science College, Secunderabad, (Osmania University, Hyderabad) and did his LL.B., from Shivaji Law College, Maratwada University, Maharastra.
Enrolled as Advocate in 1990 in the Bar Council of A.P., he actively practised in Civil, Criminal, Constitutional and all other branches of Law.
He was elevated as Judge of High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the State of Telangana and the State of Andhra Pradesh in September, 2017.
Justice Goud was transferred as Judge of Tripura High Court at Agartala in October, 2021.
While Supreme Court judges retire on attaining the age of 65 years, high court judges retire at 62.
Justice Mahanty was elevated as a high court judge in March, 2006 and became the chief justice of the Rajasthan High Court in October, 2019.
He was transferred as the chief justice of the Tripura HC in October, 2021.
