Amarpur Nov 21: The last rites of Tripura’s brave son who tragically lost his life in an avalanche in Siachen, Jammu and Kashmir, were performed with full state honours on Friday.
Martyr Subhankar Bhowmik's body was laid to rest amidst tears, through a solemn salute by the Indian Army, in presence of his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, wife, parents, and the entire village community.
The mortal remains of Subhankar Bhowmik, a resident of Birganj village in Amarpur, arrived in the state on Thursday evening, wrapped in tricolour when the state Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and other Indian Army officials paid their respects at Agartala airport.
On Friday morning, the body of braveheart Subhankar Bhowmik reached Amarpur. The arrival of his body brought an outpouring of grief from family members and neighbours in Birganj village.
State Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, along with District Magistrate of Gomati district Tarit Kanti Chakma, visited the martyr's home to pay their respects and provided financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the family on behalf of the state government.
The body was then taken to his ancestral home in Akshay Colony, Birganj, where Gomati district Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, SDPO Amarpur Devanjali Roy, Birganj Police Station OC Jayanta Das, along with army officials and family members, paid their final respects.
The last rites of Subhankar Bhowmik were completed at his ancestral home, honouring the sacrifice of this brave soldier who gave his life in service to the country.
His death has left a profound impact on the community, and the state has mourned his loss with deep sorrow and respect.
