Sonamura/ Belonia Jan 21: In a desperate bid to regain lost ground, CPM leaders and supporters are regularly conducting door-to-door campaigns and holding rallies and public meetings across the State.
While a section of the leaders is busy discussing with Congress for finalizing the candidates, Opposition leader and CPM Politburo leader Manik Sarkar, after attending a joint rally of Congress and CPM in Agartala on Saturday, went to Kanthalia under his Dhanpur Constituency today and addressed a gathering there.
In his speech, Sarkar slammed the ruling BJP for ‘deteriorating’ law and order condition and lack of development and urged people to support the CPM to restore democracy in the State. He claimed the previous Left Front government implemented several welfare measures to uplift the conditions of the tribal people by arranging water facilities, providing electricity and constructing roads. Sarkar alleged that all the previous government's initiatives came to a halt under the present government.
Meantime, CPM supporters held a door-to-door campaign in Belonia on Saturday and they highlighted the failures of the BJP government in controlling Political violence and curbing the relentless hike in prices of the commodities.
Interesting it may sound, CPM leaders did not say anything about the alliance with Congress.
