Gandacherra, April 02: Maharaja Divyananda Giri of Sri Sri Panchadash Naam Juna Akhara Naga Sannyasi Sadananda Seva Ashram Hargauri Manasa Kali Mandir of Sarma Nikhil Sarkar Para, in Gandacherra sub-division was honored with the title of "Sri Mahanta Divyananda Giriji Maharaj" in Tripura Mandal, North East India during the Maha Sanmelan of Naga Sadhus in Kumbh Mela held on February 2 last.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the Naga Sadhus of Sri Sri Panchadash Naam Juna Akhara Naga Sannyasi Sadananda Seva Ashram said that this is a rare recognition of Sanatan Dharma preaching and service.
After receiving this award, Maharaja Divyananda Giri was specially honored by Durgapur Adyama Seva Samiti of Durgapur Trinath Ashram in West Bengal on February 9 last. He was awarded a special certificate and a trophy, they added.
The disciples said that Maharaja Divyananda Giri has been working for the promotion and spread of traditional religion for a long time. His followers wish that his tireless efforts reach the pinnacle of success and that his name spreads across the country.
Sri Mahanta Divyananda Girji Maharaj said that he has been organizing Charak Puja in the for the last 40 years. It is an important religious and social duty of his life, he said, adding that not only Charak Puja, he has been serving people through traditional style treatment to solve the problem of snake bite patients and ghosts.
"This title has been given to me so that I can devote myself to the service of more people in Tripura Mandal. It is not only my personal achievement but it is a matter of pride for the entire Tripura," he added.
