Agartala, Jan 02: The state power and agriculture minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday distributed some essentials including mosquito nets and bed sheets among the children of Jawahar Lal Nehru Balika Niwas here in the outskirts of Agartala.

The minister also distributed cash money amounting to Rs 5000 to the children. The initiative was taken by the SDM of Mohanpur Subdivision Subhash Datta and his office staff jointly with the TCS Officers’ Association.

Distributing the essentials, Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that Rs 2 lakh financial assistance will be provided to the children, who score good marks in higher secondary and get a chance to study medical science in future. The minister said that the initiative of providing Rs 2 lakh was taken by the SDM Subhash Datta.

The minister had assured the staff of the Jawahar Lal Nehru Balika Niwas of providing one Harmonium for the children to learn music. In addition to this the minister also assured of special gifts for the children who score good marks in the examinations.
