Kailashahar, Mar 31: Minister Tinku Roy inaugurated the traditional Thabal Chongba, a traditional festival of Meitei Manipuri community, on Sunday night at Dhanbilash village school ground in Kailashahar. 

Chandiour Panchayat Samiti Vice Chairman Binoy Singh, senior advocate Sandip Debroy and Dhanbilash Panchayat head Bhodra Mohan Singh attended the inaugural programme. Besides, participants from Tripura and Assam joined the celebration.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Roy highlighted that Thabal Chongba, which means "Dance in Moonlight," is an integral part of Meitei Manipuri culture and is traditionally held during Holi. He also highlighted the spiritual significance of Holi in his speech.

As part of the festival, attendees performed the folk dance in which men and women formed a circle and danced while holding hands.
