Agartala Feb 09: Aiming towards overall physical and mental development of children and adolescents, the state government has launched the 6th phase of Mukhyamantri Sustha Soishab Sustha Koishor Abhiyan (Chief Minister’s Healthy Childhood, Healthy Adolescence scheme) across the state.
In presence of MLA Mina Rani Sarkat, West District president Hari Dulal Acharjee, CMO West District among others, the MSSSK 6.0 scheme was officially launched at Belabar Primary Health Care Centre here on Friday.
Addressing the program, Badharghat assembly constituency MLA Mina Rani Sarkar said, “The state government under the able leadership of chief minister Dr Manik Saha has given special importance to the healthcare services. The government and the health department are tirelessly working to deliver appropriate health services to every citizen of the state”.
“After the 5th successful phase of Mukhyamantri Sustha Soishab Sustha Koishor Abhiyan, the government has again launched the 6th phase with an aim to ensure that the health of children, young boys and girls is good. Only then their future will be bright”, she added.
Detailing the MSSSK 6.0 scheme, West district CMO said, “The campaign periods from February 9 to February 22, 2024. From February 9-13, the program will be conducted in all the schools, Anganwadi Centres, Colleges. From February 14-18, in brick kilns, tea gardens, urban slums, private coaching institutions. Also, a special village meeting will be held from February 19-22 to create awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and child marriage”.
The CMO further said that the West Tripura district achieved the most in the fifth phase of the campaign following which the department was awarded at the state-level inaugural session held in Bishalgarh on February 8.
Speaking about the benefits of the program, the officials said, “Deworming Tablets, Iron Folic Acid Supplementation, Tetanus Diphtheria Vaccination to 10 Years and 16 Years Adolescents, Supplemental Dose of Vitamin A, Giving ORS and zinc to children with diarrhea including providing one ORS to all children under five years. In addition, young children will be screened for lung infections and referred”.
Besides, ASHA workers will play an important role in this abhiyan. They will conduct house- to-house visits to examine children under 45 days of age and also assess if children of other ages are having any problem.
During this time, if any symptoms of Measles, Rubella and Polio are present in anyone, their names will be recorded and their sample collection will be arranged.
At tea plantations, brick kilns, colleges, private institutes, ANMs, MPWs and CHOs will mainly carry out the work.
According to the target of the program, 269388 children will be given deworming tablets, 64413 children will be given iron folic acid syrup, 65731 children will be given iron folic acid tablets, 117702 children will be given blue colored iron folic acid tablets.
60857 children under the Poshan Abhiyan will be entered in Poshan Tracker by measuring weight and growth, 63766 children will be given ORS, 7286 children will be given TD 10, 7135 children will be targeted for ID 16 vaccination.
1440 ASHA workers and 1754 Anganwadi workers will be engaged in this work. This program will be conducted in 625 government schools, 188 private schools.
Nodal Officers from each PHC, CHC, UPHC have been trained at the District Office for successful implementation of the training programme.
