Kumarghat Jan 11: Earlier the Congress showed nil interest in development of North East, similarly, the CPI-M government also did nothing for the development of Tripura. It is the BJP-led government under which people of Tripura have witnessed development in true terms, said Biplab Kumar Deb.
The former chief minister and present Rajya Sabha MP made the remarks as he addressed the inaugural ceremony of newly built Town Hall at Kumarghat here on Wednesday.
Built at a cost of Rs 11 crores and 80 lakhs, the completely Air-conditioned Hall was inaugurated by Biplab Kumar Deb. The Rajya Sabha MP was accompanied by Minister Bhagaban Das among others during the program.
Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech, Biplab Kumar Deb said, “It was only a single train running from Dharmanagar to Kumarghat, which was gradually connected to Agartala. Since then, Kumarghat has been a national symbol. It is under the BJP-led government that the people of Tripura are enjoying benefits of several local and national trains that connect directly to Bangalore, Kolkata and other states”.
Taking a jibe over the opposition CPI-M, Deb said, “Communists ruled the state for 35 years but never showed the courage to give Rs 2000 as social allowance”.
“Left leaders of Kumarghat did nothing for the welfare of the people here, but after Bhagaban Das was appointed as minister, around 4,900 youths were given jobs under his department”, he added.
Without naming Tapan Chakraborty, Biplab Kumar Deb sharply criticized him for ruining the lives of 10,323 sacked teachers.
Referring to the development projects of the BJP government, Deb said, “In these 5 years of BJP-led state government people have seen overall development in all sectors including communication.”
“The government is working to deliver service to the last man of the society without seeing which party he/she supports”, he added.
He also mentioned that after the completion of the National Highway, Agartala can be reached from Dharmanagar in just two to two and a half hours.
Meanwhile, Minister Bhagaban Das while speaking on the occasion said that he believes that the people of the state will re-establish the BJP government in the 2023 assembly elections.
