Agartala, Mar 12: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday said the Cabinet approved recruitment for 153 posts including 118 Post Graduate Teachers (Computer Science).
The council of ministers approved the proposal for filling up 153 posts under the Education, Food and Civil Supplies department.
The figure included 118 posts of Post Graduate Teachers (Computer Science) for Vidyajyoti Schools. These posts would be filled up through the TRBT. They will be posted at Vidya Jyoti Schools.
In addition, 35 senior store guards will be appointed under the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department, he said.
JRBT will be assigned to conduct the selection tests for the store guards.
Chowdhury also said that the Government of Assam has expressed its eagerness to adopt the PDS model implemented in the state.
“The Assam Chief Minister has sent a team of officials to understand how the Government of Tripura has introduced lentils in the Public Distribution System. Later, a team of officials came and met the Director of my department to seek guidance. Assam has decided to adopt the model we follow in their state,” the Minister said.
Replying to a query in connection with the sweeping allegations raised by Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Chowdhury said, “He (Sudip Roy Barman) is a seasoned politician of the state and thus he should speak responsibly. I had listened to his entire speech where at one point he claimed that the files of the food department are accessed by someone else. The tone and tenor of his speech aimed to establish that having been offended by the undue interference of someone I have complained to him about this and he raised my concerns.”
According to Chowdhury, supply of spices in fair price shops is temporarily suspended for some tender related procedures which are yet to be completed. “It takes time to implement a decision and due procedures are needed to be followed so that a decision gets legal validity,” he added.
The Minister also said that Tripura has emerged as the top state in North Eastern states for its performance in the PDS and nationally it has secured the fourth position.
