Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated North East’s largest oxygen plant (PSU) at IGM hospital, the second busiest healthcare facility of the state, on Wednesday. The capacity of the new oxygen plant is 1050 LPM.
He also inaugurated a project—beautification of a water body in the hospital premises.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister said the IGM hospital suffered a lot due to lack in infrastructure. He also said, there was a lack in planning in the building construction; there was also no ramp owing to which the orthopaedics patients had to suffer.
The Chief Minister emphasized on proper utilization of the new building of the hospital. Meanwhile, an instruction was already passed to the authority concerned to shift all the departments to the new building.
According to Dr. Saha, the health service has now improved following effective steps taken by the state government. He said, the government is making taking initiatives to ensure quality healthcare in Primary Health Centres, Sub-Health Centres and other hospitals.
MLA Dr. Dilip Das said, efforts are on to transform IGM hospital into a model hospital. According to Das, an initiative was taken to inaugurate the new building of the IGM hospital soon.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Tripura Mission Director of NHM Subhasis Das, Health secretary Dr. Debasis Basu, Director of Tripura Health Services Dr. Subhasis Debbarma, Medical Superintendent of IGM hospital- Dr. Sharmila Sarkar and other officials were present in the inaugural ceremony.
A representative of United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) Shoko Noda also joined the programme from New Delhi through video conference.
