Agartala Dec 02: Citing severe shortage of professors in colleges across the state, the National Student Union of India (NSUI), Tripura State Unit has taken a proactive stance by placing a deputation to the state higher education department.
On Monday, a delegation of Pradesh NSUI met the Director of Education, urging him to immediately appoint adequate number of NET qualified Professors in colleges and Universities in the state.
Speaking to the reporters, president Pradesh NSUI Swarup K Sil highlighted the critical shortage of professors in state colleges, ‘which has adversely affected the quality of education’.
“Compared to the number of Colleges and Universities in the state there are only 380 permanent professors in the entire state which should have been at least 2,100. The entire education system is dependent of Guest lecturers”, he said.
He alleged, “It is because of the failure of the present government, the education system and future of the students is pushed towards darkness”.
Stressing on the importance of having adequate faculty to support the academic growth and development of students, Pradesh NSUI urged the state higher education department to initiate immediate recruitment drives to fill vacant posts.
