Police intensifies security measures for Kali Puja

Amarpur, Oct 28: Police of Amarpur subdivision have intensified security measures for the upcoming Kali Puja festival here in the subdivision, while the meeting with the clubs and puja organizers were held recently to ensure peaceful puja.
SDPO Debanjali Ray informed that stern action will be taken against the perpetrators, who try to disrupt the festival in the subdivision, while the drug dealers are warned to refrain from their illegal activities during the festival.
This year at least four clubs in the Karbook subdivision are organizing Kali Puja at Jatan Bari in Gomati district with an estimated budget amounting to Rs 13 lakh, while the budget for puja in Youth Club of Natun Bazar is estimated to be Rs 7 lakh this year. The budget of the Young Blood Club for this year's puja is over Rs 6 lakh and the budget of the Yuva Samaj Welfare Society is over Rs 5 lakhs. The puja budget of the Ambedkar Club is also over Rs 5 lakh.
The SDPO further informed that the police had already chaired meetings with the clubs and puja organisers to ensure peaceful puja.
Multiple issues were discussed in detail in the meeting, where the puja organisers were asked to ensure adequate volunteers and also ensure adequate lighting system in the dark areas during Kali puja, the SDPO said, adding that adequate CCTV cameras were installed in multiple areas.
