Agartala Sept 24: Union Minister of State for Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhowmik on Sunday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for passing the Women’s Reservation Bill.
“This is an achievement of the entire country. It is a milestone that will be enlisted in the history of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be remembered for this”, she said.
Highlighting the steps taken by Modi-led government towards development of women, Bhowmik said, “Various schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, reduction in prices of LPG gas, Mudra loans, self help groups and many more, the BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always worked towards uplifting the women of all sections and make sure that women today are empowered”.
“The Women’s Reservation Bill, ‘Nari Shakti Vandan- Abhinandan’ will lead towards a new era in the development of women in India. Finally, after crossing all sorts of obstacles the bill was supported in the Parliament”, she added.
Lashing out the opposition over its criticisms regarding the bill, Bhowmik said, “The earlier governments who are now sitting in the opposition and passing various statements have failed miserably to pass the bill during their times. And now as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi did it successfully, they are doing the ‘opposition thing’, i.e. passing comments”.
Pratima Bhowmik asserted that the BJP government has been constantly working towards providing security, respect and prosperity for women. Besides, the bill now ensures women’s participation in democracy.
