Gandachhera July 31: Supporters of the CPM held a rally in Gandachhera sub-division on Sunday protesting against the rising prices of essential commodities.
Ramnagar Local Committee of CPM organized the rally at Ramnagar Bazar area and later held a public meeting in Kalajhari Ramnagar Bazar area.
Addressing the gathering member of the CPM State Committee Amalendu Debbarma said that prices of petro products are increasing almost every day, and the imposition of the GST on an increasing number of goods is causing a further rise in prices.
All these are propelling the prices of goods including medicines leaving the common people suffering from an acute financial crisis.
He also alleged even the price of kerosene in ration shops has become unaffordable for common people.
Debbarma said while the price rise is putting people in distress, lack of jobs and earning opportunities have left people agonizingly cornered. The condition of the farmers is also pitiable with increasing cost of production and reduction in earnings.
Apart from Debbarma, Lalit Tripura, Sushanta Hazari, Archana Das, Nityanta Reang, Chintasing Molsam and other leaders were present in the public meeting.
Party leaders claimed under the present burdensome situation people have already started saying that they were better during the Left Front Government in Tripura.
CPM party leaders urged the people to put up a united fight against the BJP government to protest against the public suffering.
