Quality check drive for edible oil

Agartala Aug 01: The Food Safety and Standard Authority of India will carry out a quality check survey across Tripura to ascertain the quality of edible oils being sold in the open markets.
All the district food safety officers have been asked to shoulder the task of collecting samples, Director Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Radha Debbarma told reporters today. She said, “We have received several complaints related to adulteration of edible oil and open sale of oil. The surveillance campaign has been undertaken to ascertain the quality of oil and after that enforcement will be done”.
According to Dr Debbarma, 15 parameters including level of trans fatty acids will be checked during the tests. The collected samples would be sent to Kolkata for testing, she added.
