Agartala, Feb 11: A severe drinking water crisis has gripped several tribal areas under Mandai Block in Jirania subdivision, with residents struggling for clean water while authorities remain indifferent. Residents claimed on Tuesday that despite pre-election promises of improved infrastructure, including potable water supply and better roads, local leaders and officials have failed to address the worsening situation.

The crisis is particularly acute in Dinan Kobrapara under Manikung ADC Village, where residents are forced to drink water from nearby streams. During the rainy season, even this unsafe water becomes unusable, further exacerbating their hardship. Locals allege that despite repeated appeals, the concerned department has shown no urgency in resolving the issue.

Speaking to the media, resident Tanushree Debbarma expressed the community’s frustration, urging the government to take immediate steps to provide a sustainable drinking water solution. The affected villagers have called for urgent intervention to ease their suffering.
