Agartala April 02: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections an outreach program on Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participations (SVEEP)- 2024 was held in MBB Shatabarshiki Bhavan, Tripura University on Tuesday.
Organized under the initiative of District Election Officer, West Tripura, the program aimed at raising awareness on the importance of voting, especially among the youths and new voters.
Addressing the program, Chief Election Officer, Tripura Puneet Agarwal said that the Election Commission of India has been organizing this program since 2009 with the aim of increasing people’s participation in the electoral process.
“Every individual from the age of 18 years and above have the right to vote irrespective of their cast, creed, religion or economic status. Social equality is established through this electoral process”, he said.
The CEO urged the youths and new voters to come forward and exercise their democratic right as well as also raise awareness in this context and encourage others who abstained from voting.
A documentary titled “I am Voter of India” was screened at the day’s program.
Tripura University Vice- Chancellor Ganda Prasad Prasain, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar, SVEEP icons Padmashree Dipa Karmakar among others remained present at the program.
Apart from various cultural programs, an open quiz was also held with the students of the University.
Later, the dignitaries flagged off a campaign car for West Tripura Parliamentary seat to aware the citizens of the voting process and its importance.
