Agartala Nov 08: Ahead of the 2023 assembly elections in Tripura, the state election commission convened an all –party meeting on Tuesday.
The meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the Civil Secretariat, Agartala.
Addressing the press, Tripura state Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte said, “As the state is scheduled to go for polls early next year, the work of special summary revision is scheduled to commence from November 9”.
“For the first time the state election commission has detailed all the important points amid a presentation to all the recognized political parties in the state”, said Gitte.
Urging upon the 18 voters, Gitte said, “There is lack of motivation among the 18 voters who must come forward and enrol their names in the voters list and cast their votes accordingly”.
Talking about the enrolment of Bru refugees CEO Kiran Gitte said, “More than 50% work has already been completed in this regard and our target is that in the coming month 100% enrolment of Bru voters will be completed”.
Meanwhile the representatives of the opposition political parties pointed out that voters are attacked and obstructed from registering names in the voters list.
“Rule of law has collapsed and there is no democracy in the state and voters are barred from exercising their constitutional rights in this BJP regime”, alleged the opposition party representatives.
However, the CEO assured all the party representatives of improving accuracy, transparency and inclusivity of electoral rolls in view of the upcoming elections.
