State Govt is committed towards Fisheries Development with an increase in productivity; says Sudhangshu Das

Agartala Sept 29: With a view to facilitate production, marketing and export in fisheries, the state government is working towards making the state self-reliant in terms of fish productivity.
Inaugurating the Pisciculture Knowledge Centre at Ichachara in Kakraban block on Friday, the Minister for Fisheries Sudhangshu Das said, “With various reforms in the sector, the department is working towards wider objectives including food security and nutrition and generating economic opportunities”.
“Fish farmers are trained in advanced practices along with advancement in technology to ensure larger production and profit”, he said.
Matsya Gyanarjan Kendra has a special role to acclimatize fish farmers to modern practices of fish farming, said Das.
MLA Abhishek Deb Roy, MLA Jitendra Majumder, Deputy Director of District Fisheries Sujit Sarkar among others remained present at the inaugural program.
The center has been built at a cost of Rs 41 lakh, said the authorities of state Fisheries Department.
Later in the day, the minister also inaugurated the newly constructed Primary Animal Care and Cow Breeding sub-Centre adjacent to Magpushkarini Bazar under Kakraban RD Block.
He said, “The livestock keepers of the area will be greatly benefitted by this primary veterinary sub-centre”.
