Agartala Aug 06: Tripura Employees Coordination Committee, a Left affiliate employees body in Tripura marched through the streets of capital city on Saturday raising four charter point of demands.
Addressing the reporters general secretary of TECC Swapan Bol said, “According to the consumer price index teachers are eligible to get DA at a rate of 34 percent and the central government within a short period of time is set to hike it to 38 percent. The skyrocketing prices of essential commodities have severely impacted the lives of government employees and the state government must consider these issues very sympathetically”.
Bol further said, the major share of DA which the government employees of the state are entitled to get is still due and they are yet in dark if the benefits will be received in real or not.
“The government should come out clean as to why we are deprived of our entitled benefits. Several state governments have already approved DA on a central scale. These issues have triggered sharp disappointment among the employees, especially the teachers of the state”, he added.
The organization has also put forth other demands that include: abolishment of the existing NPS scheme for pension to replace it with Defined Benefit Pension Scheme and regularization of fixed pay and contractual employees.
