Agartala Dec 02: In a powerful display of solidarity, a protest demonstration was organized in front of the Gandhi statue in Circuit House, Agartala to condemn the unjust arrest of Chinmoy Prabhu, a revered Hindu martyr in Bangladesh.
The protest drew a significant number of participants from Bishwa Hindu Parishad, Saints and Monks, Youth, all united in their demand for justice and the immediate release of Chinmoy Prabhu.
Notably, after the Dhaka Police on November 25, 2014 arrested Chinmoy Krishna Das, a Hindu leader and ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) in neighbouring Bangladesh, protests have erupted everywhere including the state of Tripura, demanding his immediate release.
Speaking to the reporters from the protest spot on Monday, Shankar, Secretary BHP, Tripura Unit termed the arrest and bail denial for Chinmoy Prabhu as ‘unfortunate’ and also expressed deep concern over the ‘atrocities’ on minority communities in Bangladesh.
He called upon the interim government of Bangladesh to ensure safety and security of Hindus and minorities in the country.
The protest in Agartala saw a large turnout of supporters who gathered to voice their opposition to the arrest.
The demonstrators carried banners and placards, calling for international intervention and the protection of minority rights in Bangladesh.
The rally highlighted the growing discontent and the urgent need for action to address the persecution of minorities.
During the rally, saints and monks emphasized the importance of standing up against injustice and protecting the rights of all individuals, regardless of their religious background. They called for the immediate release of Chinmoy Prabhu and urged the international community to take notice of the human rights violations occurring in Bangladesh.
Later, a deputation was placed to the Assistant High Commissioner, Bangladesh urging him to take necessary steps to fight against injustice and uphold the principles of equality and human rights.
