Agartala, Feb 06: As proposed in the budget, Dr. Manik Saha-led cabinet has cleared a proposal for implementation of Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, Minister for Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury announced on Tuesday.
The council of ministers in its last sitting three days ago has approved the health scheme, under which around 4.15 lakh families (not registered under Ayushman Bharat) would get the medical benefit up to Rs. 5 lakh per year, he said.
An amount of Rs. 104 crore would be required per year to implement the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, the Minister told reporters.
As decided by the cabinet, around 70,000 Group C and D employees would also get the benefit of this scheme. In case of the employees, they have to surrender annual the existing medical allowance to avail the scheme benefit, he added.
In Tripura, there are around 9.75 lakh families. Among them, 4.50 lakh families are already covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The new scheme will exclude approximately 10,000 building and other construction workers, who have already been getting medical benefits from the Labour department.
The salient features of this scheme included cashless/ paperless health insurance benefit up to Rs. 5 lakh annually, automatic renewal, free medicines for 15 days after discharge from hospital and facilities in all the hospitals empanelled under Ayushman Bharat across the country.
The Chief Minister would launch the new scheme to benefit the people before the next state budget, Chowdhury said.
