Agartala, Aug 12: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday said the present state government is media-friendly. The media’s role is important in the state’s development process and in this view, the present state government is sincere towards extending various facilities to the media and journalists.
Dr. Saha was addressing the inaugural session of 2nd convention of Assembly of Journalists at Muktadhara auditorium. Speaking at the programme, the Chief Minister assured zero tolerance against attack on journalists and advised the journalists to stay vibrant.
In reference to the speech of an organizing body’s member, Dr. Saha said, “You mentioned that attacks on journalists or the media have ceased across the state since May 2022. Why did such incidents occur in previous days? It was a disturbing trend, and the public rejected it. Unfortunately, this culture persisted for 35 years. Under the present government, we will not tolerate such behavior.”
He also said that the present state government doesn’t believe in 'divide and rule' politics. It was introduced by the British people; we must reject it.
