Tripura CM appeals for peace after election results

Agartala, Feb 27: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made an appeal to the people of Tripura irrespective of political affiliations for maintaining peace and harmony after the counting of votes scheduled on March 2 next.

In a social media message on Monday, Dr. Saha said, Tripura has set an example of free, fair and peaceful election on February 16 last. He appealed to all to maintain the same spirit during and after the counting. The poll results would be declared on March 2.

“I firmly believe that the people of Tripura will maintain the peace, harmony and law and order after the announcement of the results,” said Dr. Saha, who contested the polls from 8-Town Bordowali seat.

Meanwhile, this is for the first time that Tripura witnessed such a peaceful election with around 90 per cent turnout. The counting of polls would take place in 21 centres across the state commencing from 8 am with counting of postal ballots.
