Agartala, Sept 14: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday asked the clubs and Durga puja organizers not to force people for subscription.
Addressing a meeting with the puja organizers organized by Agartala Municipal Corporation at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, Dr. Saha warned that law would take its own course if any complaint of force collection of subscription comes against any puja organizer.
He said, the government is working with the goal to build Atmanirbhar Tripura but the big-budget puja organizers hire artists/ workers from other states for pandal decoration, illumination and making of idols. In this context, he appealed to the clubs/ puja organizers to give opportunity to the state’s people.
He also stressed on using approved electricity and deploying sufficient volunteers.
Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury said, the state government would organize ‘Mayer Gomon’ programme on October 7 to mark Vijaya Dashami.
The idols would be taken for immersion to Dashamighat through a colourful rally from Post Office Chowmuhani via Paradise Chowmuhani and Melarmath. Chowdhury appealed to all puja organizers to take part in the programme.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder discussed the steps taken by AMC to mark the Durga Puja festival. He said, arrangements have been made in all zonal offices so that the puja organizers don’t face any problem in getting permission.
DIG G.K. Rao informed the meeting that over 904 applications for organizing Durga Puja were received in the West Tripura district so far. The figure would touch 2500 in the whole state.
He said, apart from police personnel, around 1500 TSR personnel, Scout and Guides and NCC volunteers would be deployed for maintaining law and order during the festival.
He also said, entry to the city would not be allowed from 5 pm to 12 am and there would be 10 drop gates in the entrances of the capital city- Agartala.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, AMC Commissioner Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, President of Agartala Club Forum Pranab Sarkar and representatives of various clubs and puja organizing committees were present in the meeting.
