Tripura CM calls for new industrial policy to attract investment

Agartala, May 17: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday asked the Industries and Commerce department to make new plans for attracting investments in the state.
He said, ample scopes of industrial growth are there in the state and the present government is sincerely working towards development of this sector. He also stressed on formulating a new industrial policy to attract the investors.
The Chief Minister was addressing a review meeting of the Industries and Commerce department at the civil secretariat. The Chief Minister asked the officials concerned to regularly monitor Swaagat portal introduced for convenience of the investors.
He also emphasized on promoting the state’s industrial potentials during road shows in various states to be held as part of the upcoming North East Global Investors Summit.
Director to Industries and Commerce department- Viswashree B. in the meeting said four flagship schemes under Gati Shakti are being implemented in the state at an expenditure of Rs. 35 crore. Besides, two new projects were also initiated under this scheme.
She also informed the meeting that four advisors were appointed for proper implementation of ADB-funded projects in the state.
According to the Director, the TTDC runs 19 industrial zones with 160 factories in the state. Initiatives were taken to set up more 82 industrial units. As of now, 5247 persons were given employment in such industrial units and an amount of Rs. 901.49 crore was invested.
Minister for Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma along with chairman of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Nabadal Banik, chairman of Tripura Tea Board Santosh Saha and chairman of Tripura Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Balai Goswami attended the meeting.
Besides, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and other officials including secretary P.K. Chakraborty were present.
