Agartala, June 11: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting and reviewed the preparedness for the upcoming Monsoon.
The Chief Minister laid stress on taking up modern initiatives in view of the Monsoon. He also asked the attending officials to take advice from the experts from outside the state, if necessary.
Dr. Saha also suggested for developing satellite hospitals to strengthen health infrastructures in urban and rural areas. He further passed an instruction to the officials concerned for taking necessary steps for preventing mosquito menace in the city.
Secretary to Urban Development department Abhishek Singh said in the meeting that as per the prediction of Indian Meteorological Department, Tripura is likely to receive less rainfall than the normal in the current month of June. But, in July and August, the state will receive rainfall more than normal.
He said, all necessary preparations have already been put in place by the Urban Development department for the upcoming monsoon. Besides, the flood-prone areas in every urban local body have been identified.
Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav discussed the present status of pumps, drainage system, cleanliness, and other plans of the AMC.
He said, 18 pump stations are there under Agartala Municipal Corporation for clearing the rain water. The AMC Commissioner also informed the meeting that a process is already underway to prepare the DPR for the entire drainage system of Agartala city.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Finance Secretary Apurba Roy, Special Secretary Planning Abhishek Chandra and other officials were present in the review meeting.
