Tripura CM greets two awardees

Agartala, Jan 27: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday greeted two awardees at his official residence.
The awardees are- Smriti Rekha Chakma, who has been named for prestigious Padma Shri, and Jyotsna Akhtar, who has been conferred with Pradhan Mantri Rastriya Bal Puraskar.
During his interaction with Chakma, the Chief Minister mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the man who recognized and gave this honour to her efforts in the art of weaving Chakma Loinloom Shawl.
The woman, who hails from Nandannagar in Agartala, transforms eco-friendly vegetables dyed cotton threads into traditional designs, promoting the use of natural dyes. She also empowers rural women through her organization ‘Ujeia Jadha’.
Next, the Chief Minister greeted Jyotsna Akhtar, a Class-X student from PM-SHRI Amjad Nagar High School, who had set an example by preventing her marriage at an age of 14. The schoolgirl has also been making a difference in her community by raising awareness against Child Marriage through ‘Balika Mancha’ initiative.
Dr. Saha also got to know about the schoolgirl’s experience regarding her interaction with the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister hailed the achievements of both the awardees and conveyed good wishes for their future endeavours.
