Agartala, Aug 15: Along with other parts of the country, the 78th Independence Day was celebrated with due dignity across Tripura on Thursday.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha hoisted the National Flag at the state-level programme organized at Assam Rifles ground, Agartala and addressed the people.

The Chief Minister inspected the parade on the occasion and presented awards and medals in various categories. He also witnessed the mesmerizing cultural programme organized by the Education Department in the spirit of patriotism.

At the beginning his speech, the Chief Minister remembered the sacrifices made by the great freedom fighters. Besides, the Chief Minister also highlighted the significant achievements of Tripura in various sectors and several programmes implemented by the government for the progress and prosperity of the state.

He said that the present state government is working sincerely to take Tripura towards a bright future.

He appealed to all to work hand in hand to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of ‘Viksit Bharat’' and build 'Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura'.
