Tripura CM reviews Janajati welfare activities

Agartala, Sept 08: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday reviewed the works of Janajati Welfare department.
Janajati Welfare minister Rampada Jamatia, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Principal Secretary of Janajati Welfare department Puneet Agarwal and other officials were present in the review meeting.
The Principal Secretary said, the state government has received sanctions for eight Ekalavya Model residential Schools in 2020-21 and 2021-22. Among them, three schools have already been set up and the lands for the remaining five schools have been handed over to the construction agency.
He said, the Janajati Welfare department provided boarding house stipend to 26,194 students at an expenditure of Rs. 1889.48 lakh. Besides, the department has set target to provide boarding house stipend to 29,500 students in 2022-23.
The Principal Secretary also elaborated the other steps taken by the department for the welfare of Janajati people including students.
Agarwal also stated, 62 villages of Dhalai district have been identified for overall development under the first phase of Adarsha Gram Yojana. The government would spend Rs. 20.38 lakh for each village.
Addressing the review meeting, he further said, a target has been set to set up 92 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras to encourage industry based on forest resources. The Centre has already approved setting up of 32 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras.
