Agartala, Sept 02: The Rural Development department plays a significant role in ensuring growth of the rural economy, said Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
Addressing a review meeting of the Rural Development department at the Secretariat on Thursday, he also spoke on the benefit of various public welfare schemes of the central and the state governments being implemented through the Rural Development department in the rural areas.
He said, such schemes play an important role in developing socio-economic condition of the rural people.
The Chief Minister asked the officials concerned to work in coordination with the Forest department as well as to maintain quality of the works under the Mission Amrit Sarovar in the state. He also directed the department to conduct regular inspection and meetings with the officials in this regard.
According to a government press release, 964 sites have been identified to implement Mission Amrit Sarovar in the state. 75 works under Mission Amrit Sarovar have been implemented till August 28, 2022 in the state. Among these, 75 works under the Mission Amrit Sarovar, 25 new water bodies and 50 old water bodies have been repaired.
The Deputy Chief Minister and Rural Development minister Jishnu Dev Varma in the meeting directed the officials to complete the incomplete works in the rural areas by December 2022.
He said, the developmental works being implemented under education, health, agriculture, irrigation, animal rearing, drinking water, power etc sectors in 12 Aspirational block areas must be brought up in front.
The progress done under MGNREGA, Mission Amrit Sarovar, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, Shyamaprasad Mukherjee National Rurban Mission, Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihood Mission, Deen Dayal Upadhay Gramin Kaushal Yojana, Sangsad Adarsh Gram Yojana, Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samridhhi Yojana etc. was discussed in the meeting. The Special Secretary of the department informed that 426.18 lakh mandays have been generated in the financial year 2021-22.
On average, 72 mandays were generated. 1,09,217 families have completed works of 100 days. 133.19 mandays were generated so far in the financial year 2022-23. On average, 33 mandays were generated. So far, Dhalai district is ahead with 37.85 average mandays.
Talking about works of Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihood Mission under TRLM, Chief Executive Officer of TRLM Bishal Kumar informed that 3.4 lakh women of the state have been associated with Self-Help Groups while 141 new village organisations have been formed with women SHGs.
Discussion was also held on different works of the Panchayat department. Chief Minister’s flagship programs such as Chief Minister Model Village scheme, Chief Minister Swanirbhar Yojana-Gramin, Chief Minister Swanirbhar Parivar Yojana including centrally sponsored schemes were also discussed in the review meeting.
Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, Principal Secretary of RD department L. H. Darlong, Additional Secretary Raval Hemendra Kumar and high ranking officials of concerned departments were present in the review meeting.
