Agartala May 15: Tripura Pradesh Congress accused the BJP-led coalition government for “ruining” the education sector in the name of Vidyajyoti Scheme that has instead “landed the students in trouble”.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exam results have come under scrutiny due to alarmingly low pass rates in various Vidyajyoti Schools across the state. Reports indicate that a significant number of students failed to clear the exams in most of these schools.
The situation has raised questions about the effectiveness of Vidyajyoti Scheme, operated and launched by the BJP-run government.
Alleging that the Scheme’s implementation has been inadequate, leading to disman outcomes for the students, Tripura Pradesh Congress addressed a press conference from the party’s state headquarters on Wednesday.
Addressing reporters, TPCC spokesperson discussed the challenges faced by the students and the urgent need for reforms.
“Other than poor results, the Vidyajyoti Mission, which turns state-run schools into English medium schools following the CBSE pattern, adversely affects students from poor families and other disadvantaged sections of society”, he said.
He further said, “Presently, the government schools are running with an acute shortage of teachers that is badly affecting the academic curriculum. In this situation the government has put another burden on the students with their Vidyajyoti Mission”.
He said that the system has set a discriminatory system of education in the state dividing the students into two sections – a small section having capacity to afford, as ‘privileged’ and the vast others as ‘unprivileged’.
Also, the “dire situation” of schools in remote ADC areas was pointed out by the Congress leadership.
As concerns mount, the Tripura Pradesh Congress leaders called for an immediate action to improve the education system and ensure better outcomes for the students in Vidyajyoti Schools.
