Tripura ex-CM visits Bio Village project

Charilam, Sept 03: Tripura former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday visited the first Bio Village project of the country implemented at Das Para of North Brajapur in Charilam constituency of Tripura.
The Tripura government led by Biplab Kumar Deb-led undertook the project- Bio Village for 100 villages after the formation of the BJP-IPFT government in 2018.
The works for 10 out of 100 Bio Villages have already completed and Das Para’s project has been recognized as the first such project in the country.
During his visit to the Bio Village, the former Chief Minister held interactions with the villagers. Most of the families in the village are dependent on cultivation while some others manage their livelihood from fish farming and livestock rearing. Deb was apprised as to how the lifestyle of the villagers was changed with implementation of the project.
The government set up Cow Dung Bio Gas Plant which is being used for cooking in the households. After production of bio gas, the cow dung is used for farming—it has increased the production of crops.
After visiting Das Para, he went to Barkobari of Bishramganj where another Bio Village project is underway.
Speaking to the media, Deb said Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, who holds the portfolio of Rural Development, is working sincerely to implement the projects across the state.
Deb said, after achieving the target of 100 Bio Village, more villages would be brought under this project.
Later, Deb in a social media post mentioned that the beneficiary villagers saw a 70 percent rise in their income in the primary sector.
