New Delhi, Feb 3: Battle lines were drawn on Monday evening as a high-voltage campaigning came to an end with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, BJP and Congress making a final push for votes for the Delhi Assembly polling on February 5.
The counting of votes and announcement of results are scheduled for February 8.
AAP National Convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is eyeing another term for his party.
On the last day of the election campaign, Kejriwal addressed a series of public meetings, seeking votes for AAP candidates and sounding confident of victory as he highlighted its governance record and welfare schemes.
To counter Kejriwal's party, the BJP sharpened its attack against the AAP with Union Home Minister Amit Shah slamming the state government on various issues.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President J P Nadda, and several BJP chief ministers were also at the forefront of the canvassing on Monday.
On the other hand, the Congress, seeking a revival after failing to win any seat in the last two elections, also intensified its efforts. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi held separate roadshows aiming to regain the party's lost moorings in the national capital.
According to the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), 1.56 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots at 13,766 polling stations. Among them, 83.76 lakh are men, 72.36 lakh are women, and 1,267 are third-gender voters.
