Agartala, Nov 28: In a historic moment, Tripura Film and Television Institute (TFTI) started its journey on Monday bringing a new hope for the state’s youths in the field of Film and Television.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated the Tripura Film and Television Institute which has been set up at Nazrul Kalakshetra, Agartala in collaboration with the prestigious Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI).
The institute will start its academic activities with 47 students in four short-term courses- Screen Acting, Film Appreciation, Production Management and News Reporting, Anchoring and Newsroom Automation from December 1 next. Initially, the state government has announced 90 percent subsidy in the course fee.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, eminent actor from Bangladesh Ferdous Ahmed and Director of SRFTI Himansu Sekhar Khatua were also present in the colourful event.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the institute would create huge opportunities for the state’s youths and play an important role in nurturing the talents in the field of film and television.
In his address, Dr. Saha also mentioned about legendary music directors Sachin Dev Burman and Rahul Dev Burman who were from Tripura.
Addressing the gathering, the ICA minister spoke on successful implementation of the plan of setting up the Tripura Film and Television Institute. He said, this institute would help highlight the rich culture of the Tripura and play an important role in developing the talents of the state’s youths. He said, the institute has started its journey with the short courses. Initiatives would be taken to introduce full-time courses up Post-Graduate level in the days to come.
The Bangladesh film actor spoke on the cordial relations between Tripura and Bangladesh. He stressed on organizing a film festival jointly by Tripura and Bangladesh. He also said, apart from the youths of Tripura, this institute would also create opportunities for the youths of Bangladesh to pursue their career in film and television.
Meanwhile, the officials of Tripura government and SRFTI exchanged necessary papers during the programme. Secretary of ICA department Dr. P.K. Chakraborty and Director Ratan Biswas were present.
After the inaugural function, the Chief Minister along with the other guests inspected various sections of the Tripura Film and Television Institute.
