Tripura Govt tables Rs. 32,423.44 cr Budget, CM announces 3 pc DA for employees

Agartala, Mar 21: Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday tabled the state budget of Rs. 32,423.44 crore in the Assembly.
The total Budget Allocation in FY 2025-26 is an increase of 16.61 percent over the BE 2024-25. The Capital Expenditure is projected at Rs. 7903.26 Cr with an increase of 19.14 percent over the BE 2024-25, the Finance Minister said.
After the budget was placed in the House, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha announced a 3 percent hike in DA/ DR for the employees/ pensioners with effect from 1st April, 2025.
The Chief Minister said, the decision would require an additional amount of Rs. 300 crore. With this announcement, the DA/ DR would now increase from 30 to 33 percent.
Key highlights from the State Budget 2025-26:
During 2025-26, State Government will provide a total fund of Rs.860.28 Cr to TTAADC.This is over and above the allocation to be made from RIDF and Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment which will be given for project based capital infrastructure. The total provision under TSP including allocation of TTAADC has been kept at Rs.7148.85 Cr. Most of the fund under TSP will be utilized in TTAADC area.
During 2025-26, multiple flyover projects in Agartala and Udaipur will be implemented to enhance urban mobility and alleviate traffic congestion. In first phase, Two flyovers shall be taken up. 2.17 Km flyover from Radha Nagar to IGM Hospital having 8.5 m width is planned at Agartala with an estimated cost of Rs. 492 Crore. 1.60 Km length of flyover from Jaganath Chowmuhani to Khilpara is planned at Udaipur with an estimated cost of Rs. 355 Cr.
Launch of ‘Mukhyamantri Sashya Shyamala Yojana’ during 2025-26 for promoting high yielding varieties of crops. A budget provision of Rs. 5 Cr is allocated initially for the same for the year 2025-26.
During 2025-26, State Government will try to introduce new courses in emerging sectors like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Cyber Security, Renewable Energy and Agri-tech. State Government will also try to strengthen collaboration with Private Industries, MSMEs and Multi-National Companies to ensure job-oriented training.
Special courses will be started in solar energy installation, electric vehicle maintenance and sustainable agriculture. Collaboration will be made with leading industrial bodies like CII, FICCI and NASSCOM to bridge the skill gap.
During 2025-26, ‘Centre for Computer Based Examinations’ will be set up at Hapania International Fair Ground for computer-based online examinations, so that aspirants do not need to travel outside the state for appearing in online examinations. A budget provision of Rs.15 Cr has been kept for the same for the year 2025-26.
During 2025-26, the Budget proposed to introduce one new scheme ‘Mukhyamantri Konya Bibaha Yojana’. Under this, the State Government will cover the cost of marriage for a girl child from Antyodaya family. An amount of Rs.50,000 will be spent by the State Government. Mass marriage will be conducted at Sub-Division level. An amount of Rs.10 Cr is allocated for this purpose.
To make sure that people from other places of the state who get stuck due to various reasons, get accommodation at night in Agartala city and also get subsidized food at night, ‘Bharat Mata Canteen cum Night Shelter’ will be introduced at Agartala. A budget provision of Rs. 2 Cr is allocated for the same.
The State Government is going to launch ‘Chief Minister’s Scheme for Mentally Challenged Persons’ under which mentally challenged persons will be given monthly pension of Rs. 5,000. Those who are already getting Rs.2000/ per month as disability pension, they will get additional Rs. 3000 per month. Detail guidelines will be made by the Social Welfare & Social Education Department of the State Government in this regard. The budget proposed to allocate an amount of Rs. 40 Cr for this scheme.
Super-100 Programme will be launched under the Chief Minister’s Tribal Development Mission to provide quality coaching to the meritorious ST students to increase their chances of success in the all-India competitive examinations like JEE (Main), NEET, UPSC (CSE) etc. through reputed agencies. With adequate guidance, more Janajati students can enter in top Government services like IAS, IPS, IFS etc. through UPSC. An amount of Rs. 3.10 Cr will be spent in 2025-26.
