Agartala Jan 17: Minister for Power, Ratan Lal Nath on Friday encouraged the consumers to register for the installation of rooftop solar plants under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana scheme as he attended a special camp held at the Bordowali electricity office in the state capital.
The camp, second of its kind in the state after the one held at Bidyut Bhavan, Agartala, saw the presence of several dignitaries including Dy Speaker TLA Ram Prasad Paul, Secretary State Power Department Abhishek Singh, TSECL Managing Director Biswajit Basu, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, MLAs Mina Rani Sarkar, Antara Deb Sarkar, Dy Mayor AMC, Manika Das Dutta among others.
The camp also saw participation of 14 vendors involved in the installation of solar plants and representatives of nationalized banks.
Addressing the reporters, Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “Following prime minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana scheme, the state power department is organizing camps to help the consumers register for the solar plants and additionally to aware the consumers and promote solar energy in the state”.
Highlighting the dwindling reserves of coal gas, the power minister said, “Our prime minister is a visionary leader who always thinks a few steps ahead. We all know that solar energy is defined as the transformation of energy that is present in the sun and it will never exhaust. Therefore, he has emphasized solar power with an aim to provide electricity to every household through the Surya Ghar initiative”.
Minister Nath encouraged residents to seize this chance before the subsidies potentially end after 2026.
Nath further added, “Those who are thinking that they cannot afford, must note that the banks are offering loans at 7 percent interest for installation of rooftop solar plants under the scheme”.
The camp facilitated the registration process for the PM Surya Ghar Mufti Bijli Yojana, ensuring that residents could easily enroll and benefit from this scheme.
