New Delhi, Nov 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday handed over job appointment letters to more than 71,000 youths through video conferencing at 45 locations across the country and said NDA-ruled Tripura will organise a similar Rozgar Mela on November 28.
"This is the double benefit of double engine governments. The campaign to hand over appointment letters to the youth shall continue in a sustained manner," Modi said at the second 'Rozgar Mela' (employment fair) organised by the central government.
Double engine government has been a campaign issue for the BJP in several assembly elections, including the recently concluded polls in Himachal Pradesh and the upcoming polls in Gujarat.
Tripura too will go to polls early next year.
PM Modi distributed a total of 71,056 appointment letters to new recruits via video conferencing. Physical copies of appointment letters were handed over at 45 locations across the country, except Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh where the Model Code of Conduct is in force.
On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said the NDA government has given priorities to those sections of the society which were neglected by the past governments.
He said Prime Minister Modi has committed that 10 lakh personnel will be recruited.
In the first lot, appointment letters for various posts of Central government were handed over to 75,000 newly inducted appointees last month. During the second tranche, appointment letters were handed over for several posts including Central Armed Police Force, Constable, Income Tax Inspectors, teachers, lecturers, nurses, nursing officers, doctors, pharmacists, radiographers, and other technical and paramedical posts.
The PM also launched the Karmayogi Prarambh module, which is an online orientation course for all new appointees in various government departments. It will include a code of conduct for government servants, workplace ethics and integrity, human resource policies and other benefits and allowances that will help them to get acclimatised to policies and transition smoothly into the new roles.
