Agartala Jan 19: 44-year-old TIPRA Motha activist, Pranajit Namashudra died on late Wednesday night following an attack by ‘unknown-miscreants’ on his way home in a four-wheeler accompanied by a friend.
Strongly condemning what had happened, TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman said, “Unfortunately for some, Politics matters more than lives”.
As per details known from sources, Pranajit Namasudra, along with a friend, was returning home in a four-wheeler on Wednesday evening when the miscreants allegedly owing allegiance to ruling BJP stooped his vehicle in Bamancherra area, dragged him out and tortured him brutally.
Police reached the spot on receiving information and rushed the injured Motha worker to nearby Kamalpur hosptital.
But considering the serious health condition, the deceased was referred to Agartala GB Hospital for treatment where the on-duty doctors announced his death at arounf 11.30 on Wednesday night.
TIPRA Motha chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarman in his social media post said that a team of high-level delegation led by Tapas Dey, Convenor, TIPRA Citizens Federation accompanied by senior Motha leaders shall visit the deceased’s resident on Thursday.
Besides, financial help and all necessary arrangements will be made on behalf of the party for the last rites of the deceased party worker.
Pradyot wrote, “We stand with the family of Pranajit Namasudra and shall immediately provide them with financial assistance and also take care of the ‘Sraddha Karma’ of the departed soul”.
Questioning the role of state administration, Deb Barman added, “How many such innocent families will lose their loved ones because of these incidents of Political Violence”?
With the countdown to the assembly elections on February 16 next, political violence is spiralling, and set to get worse.
